5 Tips to Set Goals Like a Bad Bitch
Like most people, you've probably set a goal or two in your life.
But how many of those goals have you actually followed through on?
I’ve been there. The new year or quarter rolls around and you sit down with your journal or google doc to map everything out. You set personal goals, professional goals, financial goals, relationships goals, etc. You’re on a high and feeling hyped to take action on this elaborate plan you set out to only find yourself 3 months later in the same damn place. Maybe you haven’t even looked back at the goals you set since the day you set them? YUP, I have SO been there.
And then once you realize this, that little voice inside your head pops off and starts telling you how lazy, unproductive, and unworthy you are. It’s a vicious cycle I was stuck in for most of my life and if you’re reading this you probably resonate.
It wasn’t until I began taking a realistic approach on goal setting that things shifted for me. I stopped overwhelming myself with tons of goals and got clear of the one that’s really mattered to me and aligned with my values and long-term vision.
Here’s the thing- a common problem that people face when setting goals is setting too many goals at once. It’s easy to find yourself wanting to start a new exercise routine, read a book each month, spend more quality time with family and friends, start that business you’ve always dreamt of, track your finances, start a new morning routine- and those are all great things! But trying to tackle them all at once is not only overwhelming but it’s unrealistic! Not to mention the negative self-talk that can bombard us once we don’t actually accomplish all the things.
In my personal life and in my one on one work with clients, I have found that starting small to create momentum and building off that is what keeps up moving forward and motivated to continue making meaningful change in our lives.
Another common problem I see and have experienced is setting goals based on circumstances rather than values. When we know what we value in life, we can set goals in alignment with what’s important to us, not what we think we have to do based on societal norms or those around us.
To guide you in a more positive and realistic direction when it comes to setting goals, I want to share with you my 5 best tips on setting and stick to your goals like a bad bitch:
SMART goals- get specific. Stick to 1-3 goals to no overwhelm yourself. Build from there
Post your goals somewhere you will see the everyday. Create a vision board to use on your phone and desktop.
Journal- write down what has or is holding you back from achieving this (limiting beliefs, past experiences or perceived failures).
Release resistance via EFT, movement, and visualization. (Knowing its already yours, seeing yourself as that version of yourself, engaging your senses to get in the vibration.
Take inspired action. Make an action plan. Being a woman of your word. This will come when you release what has been holding you back/resistance.
We all know the saying: ”If you fail to plan, you plan to fail"? Well, it's true, but with these tips I hope you walk away feeling empowered to not only set goals, but STICK with them, because failure in not an option, bad bitch!
